Can You Really Learn How to Play a Piano at Home?

learn pianoLearning to play digital pianos at your adult age is not an easy thing; actually, it is a tough journey. You need to gather all your essential belongings and ensure they are packed well before entering into that train of piano play world. It may sound harsh and discouraging right now, but I don’t want to put it to appear so simple, only to realize you made a bad decision in the middle of it. You should understand as early as today.

It starts with your own attitude. Yes, a positive perception and mindset. If you want to be a pianist, probably you have been thinking of such a thing for quite some time. And now you have made your mind learning, and enjoy playing your piano in future. Many aspiring pianists, just like you, fail to make a firm decision and self-motivation to endure the learning process. But if you are already set for it, I will tell you that everything is possible.

Many people prefer taking piano lessons, but this does not guarantee you anything unless you do it in the right way. You may have heard people proclaim how they learned piano without a teacher, but I would recommend piano lessons to anyone out there. You will be given something to work on after a certain lesson. You will be required to successfully pursue that piece of assignment, and then go back to the teacher for further guidance. Nothing better than learning from an experienced pianist, who will ensure you get most out of what you want.

The right learning can be achieved through dividing the lessons such that you have the theory part and practical part. This is what many piano enthusiasts do, and they can practice while at home even without the presence of a teacher. For you to learn and capture things easily, you need to understand several aspects.

First, you need to practice regularly. When I say regularly I do not mean every day, but if you have time, doing it every day is a good idea. We have seen many people giving up after several weeks learning how to play digital pianos. Practice always makes perfect, and it is the best method to master the instrument. It is hard, yes, but it is possible with extra effort. And if you ever walked into a piano learning class, students are always advised to practice frequently.

Second, you should work on a concoction of things in order to grow with the right technique. You will not learn to play the piano if you dwell on a single exercise. The mixture of them will help you build the right playing technique. Listen to an expert pianist, and he or she will tell you to focus on varieties so that you can pick a suitable method.

Third, try to learn songs based on your ability at specific levels. Of course, you cannot play all music genres at the beginner level. Learning a piano at home may not be the best as you will need to understand your ability. Even though there are many online lessons, still a teacher physically present can help you more. He or she will tell you the versions of songs fit for your level. However, it is advisable to practice with your favorite songs. Don’t force!

Alright, now you have understood the things to focus on while at the beginner level. Apart from that, your digital piano should be always near you. I don’t say you carry it to your work space! If you have your own office, it will be fine to have the piano, as long as it is portable. Basically, where you spend most of your time is the best place to keep your piano. This will allow you to practice for even 10 minutes of your free time. Those few minutes of practice counts a lot!

Since you will not be with your teacher throughout, train yourself to practice for a few minutes whenever you have free time. Eventually, you will be stunned to see you have made it. The core thing is maintaining a positive progress, and that can be achieved through regular practicing no matter how short it is.

One of the challenging parts for beginners is to work on the technique, but ultimately you will learn faster. Lastly, I will encourage learners to create longer sessions. Probably you cannot spend hours playing, but create breaks of 5 to 10 minutes after practicing for every 30 minutes.
